Sherman Township

Welcome to Sherman Township

Along with acres of residential and agricultural lands, Sherman Township also has 4 private lake subdivisions: Blue Lake, Grass Lake, Island Lake and Lake Lochbrae.  DNR and State of Michigan lands total 7,270 acres.

Another highlight is the “Game Refuge.”  DNR managed state land called the Gladwin Field Trial Area (GFTA).  It has over 4,750 acres dedicated for dog field training for ruffed grouse.  Other wildlife found in this area include: deer, black bear, turkey, cottontail rabbits, otter, beaver, bobcat, red fox.   Activities include camping (2 campgrounds, 76 sites), fishing, boating, swimming, mushroom picking, and hiking.  Winter sports include snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Bird watching at any time!  Check out the www.michigandnr.com website.

Sherman Township is a quiet, beautiful country place to live and to visit!
